Two weeks ago today on Monday, May 22, we celebrated the official publication of The Mineral Maniacs and the Magic Hardhat, with our closest friends and family. And where else would we want to celebrate the release of our first children’s book than at the Metro Area’s best local brewery, Resolute Brewing Company? 🙂
The dark gray clouds moved quickly across the afternoon sky as Ryan and I watched with anticipation and anxiety. Part of the reason we thought Resolute would be perfect was their outdoor space: a nice side lot, perfect for kiddos and accommodating lots of people, along with possibly playing games and doing giveaways.
But God’s plans aren’t always our own, and soon the fierce afternoon sky turned into a cold, thundering storm, complete with hurricane style winds (at times) and rain drops the size of quarters!
My heart sank as I thought of all the friends and family who would decide not to come after all, and I became convinced we would be left with stacks of unsold books and plates and plates of uneaten (but delicious!) burgers.
Thankfully, I was wrong. Very, very wrong.
Our friends, family, and several members of the mining community came out in DROVES to support our new book and our accomplishment. Over the course of the night, old co-workers, elementary teachers, company CEOs, members of the engineering community, and even friends we haven’t seen in years came in the midst of the harsh spring storm to show their support.
We were so humbled so many came out to celebrate with us, and were thrilled with how well-received the book was among our family and friends. There were several wonderful kids in attendance very excited for the book. One young girl read the first three chapters of the book during the party. We sold every copy we had in hand (and then some!) and were even able to sign a few.
We are so grateful to all our friends, family, and community members for your encouragement, support, and prayers over this three year journey. Every night we smile at one another in disbelief: the book is finally here!!
If you are interested in ordering a copy, our book is available for both kindle and paperback on Amazon. And as always, if you have any questions or would like a copy to review for your classroom, we’d love to chat!
Thank you again for all the love and support.
Blessings, Jules
