I wish I had something more insightful or exciting to write, but to be honest, my mind (and Ryan’s) are complete mush.
The truth of the matter is rather simple: self-publishing is hard. It is time consuming, punishing, and precise. For most authors, publishers and agents take care of everything. Writers are free to sit back and focus on their writing and storylines, and husbands of writers can massage their wife’s feet and provide endless encouragement. 🙂
But since Ryan and I started this journey–and agreed self-publishing was the best pursuit for us–everything (and I mean everything!) has fallen into our hands. Poor Ryan has even had to format the look and feel of the book, down to the very last page number.
And yet…here we are! Since we are so very close to the finish line, I figured I’d give our faithful readers an update on where things stand. And because we have zero creative energy left, here is a very basic list of what needs to be done to prepare for the grand launch on Monday, May 22.
- Have selected family and friends read our final proofs (which arrived today!) and return them as promptly as possible with absolutely nothing negative to say 🙂
- Plan the amazing launch party at Resolute Brewery, including food, printouts, and posters…Because every kid’s book should kick off with some booze and fun, am I right?
- Make any last minute changes and pray the internet doesn’t have some worldwide crash which forces us to lose everything (I’m looking at you North Korea).
- PUBLISH THE BOOK! Set date: Monday, May 22. Then we PARTY!
So there you have it. The final push to make this little dream of ours a reality. Thank you to everyone who helped us get this far, we are so very grateful. And remember to recite our brand-new book slogan every morning as a reminder to buy our book (and of your own awesomeness): Where will your hardhat take you?
Blessings friends,
Jules
